John and Mary Pekarek are listed as former owners of our farm (2 miles north of Oxford Junction) on the abstract of title. The first date of purchase for them was listed as January 21, 1865 to John Pekarek. It changed hands numerous times over the next forty years. The surname spelling changes are not consistent throughout any of the papers. It is listed as Pekarek, Pegarek, Pekarick, Pegarick, John's wife Mary is also listed as Mary Ann. One entry shows John Pegarick and Mary Ann, his wife, selling the farm to Joseph Pegarick on March 31, 1887. Joseph Pekarek then sold the farm to his wife Mary on May 5, 1892 (maybe a way of putting his wife's name on the property?). Joseph & Mary sold the farm a couple of times and bought it back on February 2, 1899. Joseph's wife Mary also has the spelling of Meri a couple of times. The last Pekarek related entry lists Mary Mikulka(formerly Mary Pekarek)and Joseph Mikulka, her husband, selling the farm to another party on March 16, 1903. Apparently Joseph passed away and Mary remarried. I hope that at least the dates and Mikulka connection will be helpful to you. I do not know if they lived on this farm or not. Do you have any old photos that would show a home in the background?
