John Lee is not in the 1925 Jones Co. census -- he must have died between 1920 and 1925--if he died in prison. For the years 1920 to 1940, Iowa did not allow the counties to keep death information. You must write to Des Moines, IA to get a death certificate.

John Lee was #4520. He entered the prison in 1884. He was convicted of Murder in Boone, IA. The prison has a photograph of him.

I did not find a gravestone listed for him in the Reformatory cemetery. A few prisoners are buried in the Riverside Cem. in Anamosa. As far as I can tell, John Lee was not buried there either.

Have you checked Boone to see if he is buried there?

Let me know if I can help further.
