In Response To: Searching for GGG-Grandparents (Pat Maxon Larson)

I just had time to do some looking here.

First let me start off with a little confusion--the probate file for Edmund Hagar says he died in Febr of 1872. That looks logical because the probate is being processed in May of 1872.

His gravestone supposedly gives a death date of March 5, 1870... Now that is logical since I do not see Edmund or Mabel in the 1870 census. I leave this up to you to straighten out.

Heirs listed for Edmund in May of 1872:
Mabel Hager age 66 living Hale, Jones Co., IA widow
N R Hager age 48 living Hale, Jones Co., IA (dies 11/27/1899 at age 75 of consumption). He is buried with Mabel and Edmund.
Cordelia Brink 46 living Cedar Co., IA (wife of Ira Brink). She and Ira are buried with Mabel & Edmund.
Ortensa Seger age 44 living Hamilton Co., IA
Adaline Magee age 42 living Bradford, PA
Elizabeth P Cook age 40 living Bradford, PA (but buried with husband, Justus, next to Mabel and Edmund! She died in 1905)
Horage E Hager age 30? living Morris, KS
Violetta P Bascom age 26 living Massilon, Cedar Co., IA

Herbert, W.W. & O E Magee received the money for their mother. I do not know if she was dead or what.

Mabel Hager always signed with an "X". The surname is spelled Hager and Hagar all through the lengthy probate file. I believe there is so much paperwork because there was no will.
