Michael, I am also curious about the 6 yr. old girl who appears with William and Susan in the census. I was wondering if perhaps she was a neice of Susan's or maybe an orphan or something. I really don't know. I don't have any information on Susan's family to better answer that question. William Bowers and Susan Ellen Davis are also my ggg grandparents. I am a descendant of their son Arthur Wesley Bowers, and his son Arthur Paul Bowers. Where do you fall into the family? I also noticed that William and Susan are not listed in the marriage indexes under the marriage date Jan. 9, 1855. This is the marriage date I took from From the History of Jones County, Iowa, Western Historical Company, Chicago, 1879, page 693. So, I assume it is accurate.

I do have one question. William Bowers was a Justice of the Peace, and he also held several other township offices. Do you think their might be a record of his picture somewhere because of this? I would love to see what he looked like
