John W. Wosoba 1895-1988

Funeral services for John W. Wosoba, 93, were held at the Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, April 14 with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery, Oxford Junction. Pallbearers were Allen Hronik, Allen Leslie, Jerry Mulvihill, Harold Rehmke, Ted Birdsall and Herman Benischek. Graveside military rites were by Post #473, American Legion, Oxford Junction.

Mr. Wosoba died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clement (Lucille) Marek, near Clarence, April 11.

The son of Mike and Mary Neola Wosoba, he was born at Oxford Junction April 7, 1895.

He was married to Anna Hansen at Marion Dec. 27, 1922. She died in 1955. He married Bernice Shoaf at Clarence Dec. 27, 1960. She died in 1967.

He was a farmer, doing electrical work after his retirement. He served in the US Army during World War I. He enlisted June 27, 1918 and, after serving in the Alsace campaign in France, was discharged June 7, 1919.

Mr. Wosoba was a member of the American Legion at Oxford Junction for 56 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marek, Clarence; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a sister, Rose Hlavacek, Strasburg, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wives, an infant daughter, a sister and 3 brothers.
