9 December 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

Alva M. Like, 83, died Wednesday evening at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, after a brief illness. He had lived in Anamosa for the last four years.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Goettsch funeral home, Monticello. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Alva Marion Like was born Feb. 13, 1871, near Monticello, the son of Peter M. Like and Harriet E. Miller Like.

May 18, 1897, he was married to Mary Oeschger. They farmed near Monticello until four years ago when they moved to Anamosa.

Surviving besides his wife, are a son, Roy, Monticello; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Geneva) Etten, Anamosa, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
