16 December 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral service for William James Bright, 55, was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Goettsch funeral home. Mr. Bright died at Mercy hospital Thursday, Dec. 9 where he was taken after suffering a stroke Monday, Dec. 6.

Rev. H. A. James officiated at the service. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. Serving as casketbearers were Lloyd Ireland, Harold Hartman, Lee Crain, Harlo Gearhart, J. E. Porter and George Wessels.

Son of Mrs. Lillian Gearhart Bright and the late George Bright, he was born near Cascade Aug. 13, 1899. He attended public schools in Cascade and later engaged in farming.

Mr. Bright moved with his parents to a farm near Anamosa in 1934. In 1947 he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered. He was forced to give up farming and moved with his mother to Anamosa in 1951.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died June 8, 1941.

Surviving, besides his mother are two brothers, Stanley, Anamosa, and Leslie, Monticello; five sisters, Mrs. William O'Brien, Lamont, Mrs. Leo Smith, Dyersville, Mrs. Bert Walter, Central City, Mrs. James Haverly, Anamosa and Mrs. William Krogh, Cedar Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
