11 February 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services for Frank Raymond Marek will be held at St. Patrick Catholic church Thursday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. Rev. Alfred Brosius will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Marek died Feb. 7 at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.

Rosary was scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday at McNamara Funeral home. McNamara Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers will be Louis Fay, Gene Flaherty, James Connolly, Edward Houser, Joe Holub and Neil Mullin.

Born Oct. 6, 1899, in Prairieburg, he was the son of Martin and Rose Holub Marek. He married Evelyn Rhatigan of Anamosa at St. Patrick's church in Anamosa and the couple lived their married life in Marion and Anamosa. He was a construction contractor in Anamosa, Marion and Cedar Rapids for about 35 years.

Survivors include three sons, Donald, Bellerose, N. Y.; Robert, San Diego, Calif.; and Kenneth, Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren.

Also five sisters, Mrs. Harold Woodward, Mrs. Vernon Woodward and Mrs. Albert Fousek, all of Anamosa; Mrs. Tom Fousek, Harris; and Mrs. Charles Winans, Monticello; and three brothers, Mike and Joseph, Anamosa; and John, Central City.

He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 13, 1966; and his parents.
