January 21, 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services for Dr. Lodema Perkins, 86, will be held at 1:30 Thursday, Jan. 21, at the United Methodist church in Anamosa. Rev. Melvin Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Casketbearers will be Dr. Marvin Frederick, Dr. William Sunlin, Dr. LeRoy Hepker, Dr. William Bakkum, Dr. Anthony Eisbach and Dr. Donald Kaiser.

The widow of Dr. James G. Perkins, she practiced chiropractic in Anamosa for a number of years. She died at the Senior Home in Monticello Sunday afternoon, Jan. 17.

Born June 22, 1884 in Weare township, Oceanna county, Mich., she was the daughter of James and Loretta Whistler Cargill. She was married to James Garfield Perkins Feb. 6, 1909. She attended the Palmer college of Chiropractic where she graduated in 1919.

She was a member of the United Methodist church, Anamosa; the Rebekah lodge; Delphian club and International Chiropractic association.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Lyman C. Perkins, Monticello; and a daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Loretta P.) Paulsen, Questa, N. Mex.; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a half sister, Mrs. Everett (Hazel) Fetter, Hart, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, July 21, 1951, her parents, two brothers and a sister.
