OLIN - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Woods, 52, died Saturday, Dec. 19, at University hospitals, Iowa City, following an illness of several months.

A family prayer service was held at St. Paul's United Methodist church at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, with memorial services at the church at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor, conducted the services. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers included Mervin Hotz, Irvin Hotz, Rolly Luckstead, Charles Bartels, Harold Becker and W. F. Robertson. Mrs. Ronald Rogers was organist. Loren Hartwig was soloist.

She was born Jan. 14, 1918, daughter of James E. and Clara Mae Gray in Jones county. She attended Black Oak school in Jackson township and Anamosa high school where she graduated with the class of 1935. On Mar. 7, 1936 she was united in marriage to Donald R. Woods at Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Woods farmed throughout their married life, moving to the farm northeast of Olin about 19 years ago which has been their home since that time.

Since living in the Olin community she had been a member of St. Paul's church where she was active in all phases of the church's work. For many years she taught a Sunday school class and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church and had recently served as president of that organization for two years. She was a 4-H leader for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann, at home; Phyllis Jean (Mrs. John Kelley), Fayette; and Donna Mae (Mrs. Lynn Babcook), Mt. Vernon; two sons, Richard, Oxford Junction; and Brian, at home; three granddaughters and one grandson; also three brothers, Ivan Gray, Cedar Rapids; Russell Gray, Monticello; and James Gray, Mechanicsville; several nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a daughter, Jan, who passed away at the age of 8 years in June of 1968.
