Funeral services for Mrs. Melvin (Lillian M.) Stoecker, 65, were Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1970 at the Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. Charles McNeeley of the Martelle Christian church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Mrs. Stoecker, who operated a custodial home in Anamosa for 15 years, died Sunday, Nov. 15 at an Iowa City hospital; she had been ill several weeks.
The daughter of Elmer and Louisa Plate Marks, she was born Oct. 17, 1905 at Bennett, attended area schools there, and was married to Melvin Stoecker in Cedar Rapids.
They lived first in Mechanicsville and moved to Anamosa in 1940 and she operated a custodial home for 15 years before retiring in 1966 because of ill health.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Narvis (Genevieve) Robinson, Mechanicsville; two granddaughters, Mrs. Terry (Sally) Fairbanks, Mechanicsville and Mrs. Myron (Susan) Ehresman, Anamosa; three great granddaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Marcella Dennis of Mechanicsville; Mrs. Louetta McCrea and Mrs. Luella Schlueter of Tipton and a brother, Robert Marks of West Liberty.
Her parents and one brother, Raymond of Rowley preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Roy Rodman, Irving Graver, Stanley Simmerman, Wilson Kouba, Julius Westphal and Leo Loyet.
