September 3, 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Frank Coleman, 83, Anamosa, died Monday morning, Aug. 31, at Anamosa Community hospital, following an illness of several weeks.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist church. Rev. Melvin Miller conducted the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Francis Crew, Richard Boots, Kenneth Boots, Darwin Coleman, Stanley Coleman and Douglas Coleman.

She was born Ella Elnora Hotz on Aug. 18, 1887, daughter of William and Sarah Simmons Hotz, near Morley. She attended the rural schools in the area. Sept. 22, 1908, she was married to Frank Coleman. They farmed in Jones county until moving to the Fairview community in 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1953.

Survivors include six children, Etta, Mrs. Howard Ireland, Madison, Wisc.; Vada, Mrs. Wilbur Worden, Central City; Lloyd, Anamosa; Velma, Anamosa; Earl, Toddville; and Lyle, Marion.

Others include two brothers, Hermie Hotz, Olin; and Ruby Hotz. Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Ila Wooder, Clarence; and Mrs. Dora Remington, Monticello; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren

Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
