OLIN - Mrs. Lula Belle Fortney, 86, of New Boston, Ill., died Thursday, Feb. 19, at Mercer County hospital, Aledo, Ill., following an extended illness.

Private funeral services were held at the Reiser chapel, Aledo, on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. Rev. James Hancock, pastor of the Joy-New Boston Eliza United Methodist church, conducted the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

She was born Jan. 27, 1884, daughter of John and Salina Bender Clothier. She was reared and educated in the Olin area, and was married to Merritt Fortney on Jan. 1, 1903, in Olin. They resided in Olin, Oxford Junction, Wheatland and Calamus. She moved to New Boston after husband's death in 1945.

She resided with her daughter, Mrs. Orla Huston, until her health failed about four years ago. She then entered the Mercer County Nursing home at Aledo.

She was of Methodist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, (Betty) Mrs. Elizabeth Blake, Wheatland; and (Lulabel) Mrs. Orla Huston, New Boston, Ill., and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and a sister.
