MONTICELLO - Lawrence R. "Larry" Goodyear, 59, resident of Monticello for the last 25 years, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, at John McDonald hospital, Monticello.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist church, Springville. Rev. Robert Lemmerman conducted the services. Interment was in the Whittier Friends cemetery, Whittier. Murdock Funeral home, Springville, was in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pall bearers included past and present members of the Monticello Volunteer Fire department. Mrs. George Freshwaters and Mrs. Herschel Drury furnished music.

He was born March 4, 1910, son of Robert L. and Ethel Johnston Goodyear, Lisbon. April 2, 1934 he was married to Frances Bedell at Williamsburg. He owned and operated a Welding shop in Monticello for 20 years.

He had served as a volunteer on the Monticello Fire Department for 12 years and as Fire Chief from 1956 to 1960. He also drove a school bus for seven years. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janet, Mrs. William T. Vosdingh, Solon; and Mary Jo, Mrs. Robert Eilers, Monticello; a son, Robert F. Goodyear, Langworthy.

Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ethel Goodyear, Marion; a sister, Mrs. Orlin Hann, Marion; and nine grandchildren.
