OLIN - John Vernon McCormick, 64, died Friday, Jan. 9, at University hospital, Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

Funeral service was held at the Hayden Funeral home, Olin, on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist church, conducted the service. Organist was Mrs. Ron Rogers. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers included Vernon Schellin, Bliss Switzer, Virgil Vernon, Paul Hartwig, Lynn Goodlove and Bruce McCormick.

He was born Feb. 28, 1905. son of Walter and Grace Vernon McCormick, in Madison township, Jones county. He attended the Maple Grove and Pleasant Valley rural schools until he entered the Olin Consolidated school from which he graduated in 1925. He was engaged in farming, trucking and tiling until 1969 when he retired because of ill health.

He was a member of the Christian church, formerly located in Olin.

Survivors include one brother, Willard McCormick, Olin; and five sisters, Ruth, Mrs. Pete Sieveka, Olin; Ellen, Mrs. Dee Vrooman, California; Verna McCormick, Cedar Rapids; Reva, Mrs. Lynn Goodlove, Mount Vernon; and Mrs. Analee Gardner, Greeley, Colo.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and one brother, Lowell.
