15 January 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

Raymond F. DeWald, 77, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Burial will be in Green Center cemetery, near Morley. Rev. Boyd Bonebrake will conduct the service.

Military services will be held at the cemetery by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.

He was born Oct. 19, 1892, son of Frank and Alma DeLouish DeWald, Hopkinton. He was married to Ellamae Pierce at Monticello on April 19, 1923. He made his home in Hopkinton and Monticello before moving to Anamosa in 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife June 7, 1957.

He was married to Florence Lawrence, Jan. 20, 1967. He served in the military service in World war I, from 1917 to 1920. He worked at the Anamosa Produce and as a carpenter before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; one son, Robert DeWald, Olin; a daughter, Mrs. Marian Leytem, Center Junction; one brother, Olin DeWald, Marion; one sister, Mrs. Ellis Jacqubec, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
