15 January 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

Ervin B. Wilken, 57, rural Anamosa, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 13, at Anamosa Community hospital, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran church. Rev. Walter A. Behrens will conduct the service. Interment will be in Wayne Zion cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers include Wayne Joslin, Gerd Gerdes, Freeman Shanklin, Harold Calvert, Don Ruhl and Ronald Moyer.

He was born Oct. 8, 1912, son of John and Emma Prabel Wilken, Wayne township, near Langworthy. He received his early education in the Wayne township schools.

He was married June 24, 1936, to Alvina Bohlken. Couple made their home on a farm in Jackson township until moving to the present farm in Fairview township in 1949.

Survivors include his wife, Alvina; a daughter, Janice, Mrs. Robert Goodyear, Langworthy; a son, Merlyn, Anamosa; a daughter, Elaine, Mrs. Harlan Pruess, jr., Lowden; two sisters, Mrs. August Dirks and Mrs. George Folkerts, both of Monticello; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
