November 11, 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN - Mrs. Vera Westfahl, 54, wife of W. C. Westfahl, died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, Saturday Nov. 6, after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. with interment in the Olin cemetery.

OLIN - Funeral service for Mrs. William C. Westfahl, 55, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Methodist church. Mrs. Westfahl died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, after a lingering illness.

Burial was in the Olin cemetery.

Vera Charlotte Yount Westfahl, daughter of Adelbert and Hilda Yount, Anamosa, was born Aug. 18, 1899.

Oct. 16, 1933, she was married to William C. Westfahl and they resided in Olin since then.

Mrs. Westphal was a member of the Garden club and the Sorosis club. She was also president of the county American Legion auxiliary and was president of the Olin Legion auxiliary for a year.

For two years she was a representative for Sister Kenny Foundation and worked in the interests of those stricken with polio. Mrs. Westfahl was a charter member of the Olin Pythian Sisters and was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are her parents, her husband, one brother, Harold Yount, Anamosa, and one half-brother, Claude Stickney, Cedar Rapids.
