11 November 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral service for Archie A. Edwards, 66, was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Goettsch funeral home, Anamosa. Mr. Edwards, who farmed in Cass township, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday night, Nov. 3.

Rev. John W. Hosmer, pastor of Anamosa Congregational church, officiated at the service. Interment was in South Mineral cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers were Joseph Edwards, Neil Edwards, Clarence Edwards, George Edwards, Robert Edwards and Howard Edwards.

Archie Anderson Edwards, son of Israel and Lavina Post Edwards, was born Dec. 28, 1887, at Onslow. He was married to Hazel Ralston in 1910 at Maquoketa.

They farmed in the Onslow and Morley vicinities until four years ago when they moved to their farm in Cass.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Zelma Gombert, Anamosa; a son, Gale, at home; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas, Monticello, and three sisters, Mrs. Delia Lynch, Onslow, Mrs. Esther Hall, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Effie Coburn, Detroit, Mich.

Preceding him in death were one son, Gerald, in 1942 and three brothers.
