7 October 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

WYOMING - Christian Anderson, 89, died Monday morning, Oct. 4, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a short illness.

Funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, with Rev. George Tjaden officiating. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery. Junior Hicks, Maquoketa, was soloist.

Mr. Anderson was born in Sterling, Ill., Jan. 26, 1865, and was married to Minnie Dean Sept. 29, 1887. He spent most of his life farming in and around Wyoming.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen's lodge.

Preceding him in death were his wife and three children.

Those surviving are six children, Ernest Anderson and Mrs. Clara Hamilton, Anamosa; Mrs. Inah Newell and Albert Anderson, Wyoming; Corwin Anderson, Corpus Christi, Tex., Mrs. Edna Rothweiller, Rock Island, Ill.

Others surviving are 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Drew, Winner, S. Dak., and Mrs. Martha Houser, Monticello, Minn., and a number of other relatives.
