MACKEY, ROHWEDDER, STRUCK

Funeral services for Howard Kenneth Mackey, 67, were held April 20 at the First United Methodist church, Olin, with the Rev. Ralph Grote in charge. Pallbearers included Robert Stroud, Henry Peters, William Williams, Dean Henderson, Jay Slater and Glenn Brown. Honorary pallbearers were August Amend, Walter Laetere, Harold Fisher, Donald Smith, Hans Ahrendsen and Tom Gill.

Mr. Mackey died April 17 at the Anamosa Community hospital.

Mr. Mackey was born April 18, 1906, son of Nathaniel Raymond and Anna Elizabeth Sarby Mackey, south of Olin. He grew up on the family farm, attended grade school in St. John's elementary school and graduated from Olin high school in 1926.

He was married to Leona Rohwedder June 1, 1927 in Cedar Rapids. They spent their entire married life in and around Olin.

He was a member of the Olin United Methodist church, the newly organized Senior Citizens' group, the Masonic Lodge, Knights of Pythias, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Stanwood and the Wyoming Horse show associations. He had served as justice of the peace for 15 years and was a school bus driver for 38 years.

Survivors include his wife, Leona; 3 sons, Lorance, Eldora; Lyle, LeMars and Donald, Lamont; his mother, Mrs. Anna Struck, Stanwood; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
