Mrs. J. G. Thomas passed away in Dubuque Thursday afternoon, following a long illness. Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Monday) from the Congregational church at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Eliett officiating. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery.

Pallbearers included Willis A. Glassgow, J. Thomas Hoegen, Edward Luce, Robert Lubben, Donald Sutherland, and William R. Thomas.

Born Betty Segovia Jacobs, June 10, 1862, she was the daughter of Henry J. Jacobs and Engel Grumm Jacobs of this community. She attended the Monticello public schools and was married Dec. 10, 1880 to John G. Thomas who was a practicing physician in Monticello. He preceded her in death June 11, 1920. She was the oldest of nine children.

Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Edna Hoegen and Mrs. J. T. Grayston, both of Cedar Rapids; and two sons, Commander R. G. Thomas, U.S.N. Retired of Washington, D.C. and Dr. C. G. Thomas of Monticello. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Webber and Mrs. Laura Becker, both of Long Beach, Calif., and two brothers, Carl C. Jacobs of Fergus Falls, Minn., and Lawrence R. Jacobs of Emmetsburg. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

She was a lifelong resident of Monticello, and a member of the Congregational church.
