Frederick "Joe" Barkwell, 67, former Anamosa resident, died at his home in Cedar Rapids Wednesday night, Aug. 4, following a lingering illness.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Goettsch funeral home, Anamosa, with burial in Riverside cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ernest Benedict, Anamosa; two step-sons, Richard Long, Des Moines and Fred Long, jr., Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Barkwell moved to Cedar Rapids from Anamosa in 1946. He was a carpenter.
