28 January 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

Eddie J. Brundidge, 81, died Monday, Jan. 25, at about 4:30 p.m. when fire swept through his home a mile west of Anamosa along the Buffalo river.

Mrs. Brundidge had gone to a neighbors for a pail of water and had visited for a little while. When started home she noticed her home in flames. It was beyond saving before the Anamosa fire company could arrive.

There were no signs of flames when she left the home, Mrs. Brundidge told Howard Campbell, Olin, Jones county coroner. She said that her husband, an invalid, was in bed when she left.

Funeral services were held at McNamara's funeral home Thursday with Rev. J. A. McMahon officiating and burial in Holy Cross cemetery, Anamosa.

Born in Anamosa May 12, 1874, Mr. Brundidge was a life resident of this area. He had worked at numerous occupations in and around Anamosa. He married Rosa Jacobsen in 1932.

Besides his wife survivors include a twin brother, Edwin, and another brother, Fred, both of Vinton.
