MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Marion B. Leonard, 68, former Monticello city councilman, were held Monday, April 19, at the Goettsch funeral home, Monticello, with burial in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Leonard died at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, Friday, April 16, following a brief illness. He had been the Monticello agent for the Milwaukee railroad from 1928 until he retired last year.

He was born at Sabula June 25, 1885, and had worked for the railroad for 51 years. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. S. J. Reed, Novoto, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Marion B. Leonard passed away at the John McDonald hospital Friday evening, following a sudden illness.

Born in Sabula, Iowa, Juen 25, 1886, he was the son of William Leonard and Mary Mace Leonard. He attended the public schools of Sabula and as a young boy worked for the Milwaukee railway. At the age of 16 he became an operator of a telegraph station of the Milwaukee Railroad, and also for a number of years worked as an operator-agent at various stations of the railroad.

In 1928 he came to Monticello, and retired in 1953 after having served 51 years with the railroad. He served several terms on the Monticello City council; a member of the Burns lodge AF & AM No. 183 of Monticello; a member of the Monticello Lions Club.

Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife, Jean Nagel Leonard of Monticello, and a daughter, Mrs. S. J. Reed of Novoto, Calif., and two grandchildren.
