WYOMING - Samuel G. Hutton, 85, retired Wyoming farmer, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, April 27.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Wallace funeral home with Rev. George Tjaden officiating. Burial will be in Wyoming.

Mr. and Mrs. Hutton had just returned to Wyoming recently after spending the winter months in Ruston, La. Mr. Hutton drove his car to and from Louisiana, having a driver's license with no restrictions.

Life-long resident of Jones county, Mr. Hutton was born Jan. 7, 1869, north of Onslow.

Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. A. F. Walker, Monticello; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

WYOMING - Funeral service for S. G. Hutton, 85, retired farmer, was held Friday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the Wallace funeral home with Rev. George Tjaden, pastor of the Wyoming-Onslow churches officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Casket bearers were Edwin Wilcox, C. M. Holst, George Lyon, Hans Ketelsen, John M. Petersen and Lee Allen.

Samuel George Hutton was born north of Onslow Jan.7, 1869, to James and Martha Reade Hutton, and died unexpectedly at his home in Wyoming Tuesday, April 27.

Mr. Hutton spent his entire life in the Wyoming and Onslow communities with the exception of two years spent in Monticello. He was a pioneer resident of Jones county.

He was married to Ella Carmeron in 1888. One daughter, Ehtel, Mrs. A. F. Walker, Monticello, was born to them. An adopted son, Carl, was also reared in the home.

Mrs. Hutton died in 1925. In August, 1928, he was married to Jennie Paul Smith, who survives him. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary last August.

Mr. Hutton was a member of the Onslow Presbyterian church since early manhood and had been an elder in its session since he was 22 years old. He had attended the meeting of the Cedar Rapids Presbytery the day preceding his death. He was a commissioner to the church's General Assembly twice. He was also a member of the Wyoming A.F. and A.M. lodge and of Wyoming chapter, Order of Eastern Star. In addition to this he was mayor of Onslow for 12 years.

Mr. Hutton was a man of unusual alertness and vigor for his years and had driven his car from their winter home in Louisiana to Wyoming only 10 days ago.

Surviving, besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Frank Walker, Monticello, are three grandchildren: Gene Walker, Fairfield; Rev. David Walker, Ind., and Mrs. Robert Jefferson, Adel, and two great grandchildren, Mark and Linda Walker.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Charles.
