D. S. Umbenhauer, 88, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 29, at Mercy hospital after a 10 day illness.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the First Congregational church with Rev. John W. Hosmer officiating. Goettsch funeral home is handling arrangements.

Burial will be in Hazel Wood cemetery, Grinnell. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

D. S. Umbenhauer was born June 10, 1865, at Burnville, Pa., the son of William and Susanna Spang Umbenhauer.

Mr. Umbenhauer worked as a salesman for Morrison-Schultz Glove Co., Grinnell, for about 50 years. He was active in the Gideon organization and at one time served as president of the Iowa branch.

He is survived by one daughter, A. Parke Odgen, Anamosa, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death in 1923. Mr. Umbenhauer was the last of 12 children.
