11 October 1954 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral services for Harold Wink, 25, Anamosa, were held Monday, Oct. 11, at Goettsch funeral home, Anamosa, with Rev. F. H. Kehren officiating and burial in Riverside cemetery.

Wink died at about 3:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at University hospitals, Iowa City, from injuries received in an auto accident on highways 64-131 three miles east of Marion at about 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Wink.

Riding alone Wink lost control of his car, which left the road, turned over and came to rest 350 feet from where it left the road. Wink was thrown from the car on the shoulder of the road where he was found by a passing motorist.

He had gone to Cedar Rapids in the morning and attended a sales meeting at the Iowa electric light and power company office there in the afternoon. He had gone early because he was on vacation, hence did not ride with other power company personnel from Anamosa.

Wink was born at Anamosa Feb. 9, 1929. He attended Anamosa public schools graduating in 1946. He entered the army in Nov. 1950, and was discharged in Nov. 1952 after serving at various bases in the United States. He was a member of the American Legion and had worked for Iowa electric light and power for about four years.

Survivors include his parents, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wink; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rose Ernst, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pall bearers were Robert Fulwider, Richard Fulwider, Patrick Dearborn, Harold Bock, Russell Wolfe, and Dale Tubbs.
