Funeral services for Joyce Walderbach, 17, were held Saturday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Rev. Vincent Simon officiated with burial at Holy Cross cemetery.

Miss Walderbach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Walderbach, was killed Wednesday, May 25, at about 3:30 a.m. when the jeep she was driving left a country road 3/4 mile east of Viola.

She was thrown across the jeep investigating officers believe, and was hanging out the right side as the jeep passed close to a telephone pole. The officers said that they believe she was crushed between the jeep and the pole.

Victim was dead on arrival at Mercy hospital, Anamosa. Mary Tipton, 16, Anamosa, a passenger in the vehicle was thrown clear and received a minor cut behind her left ear.

Miss Walderbach was born at Anamosa Sept. 22, 1936 and had lived near Anamosa all her life. She had just completed her junior year at Anamosa high school.

She is survived by her parents, three brothers, James, in the army in Germany; Jack and Andrew, both at home; two sisters, Janice, also at home; and Mrs. Garrett Moenk, Anamosa. Her maternal grandfather, John Fluckiger, Monticello, also survives.

Pallbearers were eight class mates of Miss Walderbach's from Anamosa high school. Their names were not available at press time.
