Mr. John Fahrni, a resident of Castle Grove Twp., died at the home of Samuel Wenger, last Thursday evening at nine o’clock, of pneumonia after an illness of two weeks. The funeral of the deceased was conducted in the German Reformed Church at Monticello by Rev. E. E. Gruenstein, last Saturday afternoon. The deceased was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland, August 26, 1833. He was married at the same place to Anna Younker, July 2, 1864. They came to the US in 1883 and settled six miles northwest of Monticello. Mr. Fahrni was an industrious and honest man, who always had the respect and esteem of his neighbors. He had gone to Mr. Wenger’s for a visit, and while there became too ill to be removed to his own home. He is survived by his widow and six children viz: John of Waldenburg, Ark., and Fred of this vicinity, Godfried of Faulk County, S. Dakota, Rudolph and Emma of Cascade and Mrs. Lydia Lydia Zumbrunnen.
