March 9, 1950 - The Anamosa Journal

Miss Bridget English died Monday at 5 a.m. at Mercy hospital where she had been treated for the last two weeks for a broken hip after she fell at her home in Anamosa.

Funeral was held this Thursday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. J. A. McMahon officiating. McNamara Funeral home had charge of burial in Holy Cross cemetery.

Miss English was born April 3, 1873. She was the last to survive of the family of the late Thomas and Bridget English. There are no direct survivors.

Surviving nephews and nieces are William English, Anamosa; Mrs. William Delay, Castle Grove; Mrs. Howard Richmond and Leo English, Ryan; Mrs. Eleanor Smith and Mrs. William Kinney, Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Eleanor English, Ryan, a sister-in-law also survives.

Casket bearers were Albert Doyle, Thomas Stimpson, William Gassen, James Connelly, Mike Marek and Glen McLaughlin.
