9 March 1950 - The Anamosa Journal

Wayne A. Rosencrans, 43, died Monday, March 6, at his home as the result of a heart attack. Funeral was held this Thursday afternoon at Goettsch Funeral home with Rev. Walter D. Wigger, Baptist pastor, in charge. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Wayne Albert Rosencrans, son of Elmer and Mary Repstein Rosencrans, was born in Anamosa Oct. 1, 1906. He attended the public schools of Anamosa, graduating from high school in 1923. He then started learning carpentry, which trade he followed until his death. He was known, along with his father, as one of the skilled carpenters and cabinet makers in the community.

On Dec. 6, 1941, he was married to Sophia Zimmerman, and one child, Wayne Albert, jr., was born. They made their home in Anamosa in the same block in which Mr. Rosencrans was raised.

Survivors in addition to his wife and son are his parents of Anamosa; a brother, William, student at University of Iowa; his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Repstein, Monticello, four uncles and a number of other relatives.

Music for the service was furnished by Glen Brokaw who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied by Miss Marjorie Peet.

Casket bearers were Richard Nickels, Donald Glick, Percy Ruhl, Stanley Zimmerman, F. B. Keltner and Boyd Brant.
