OLIN - Funeral services for Alvin O. Onsrud were held Saturday at St. John's Lutheran church in Olin.

Rev. C. J. Mardorf conducted the services. The body was shipped to Westby, Wis., Sunday and services were held there Monday afternoon and burial followed in the Coon Prairie, Wis. cemetery.

Mr. Onsrud became the fifth traffic fatality when he met sudden death on highway 64 about a mile east of junctions 64 and 38. He lost control of his car and plunged into Bear Creek March 19.

He was born Jan. 26, 1926, at Westby, Wis., the son of Otto and Helga Onsrud. He was graduated from Luther College, Decorah, in 1950. He served two years in the Navy in World War II.

Mr. Onsrud married Muriel Hovde at Westby, Wis., and they lived at Decorah for several years before moving to Cresco where he was employed at the Sears store there. In October 1953 he became district manager for the circulation department of the Des Moines Register and Tribune. In 1955 he and his wife moved to Olin. He was a member of the Blayney-Minor Post American Legion and served as treasurer for the Boy Scout troop.

He is survived by his wife Muriel; two daughters, Gail and Debra; four sons, Richard, Robert, Harlan and David; one brother, Lloyd, Los Angeles; and six sisters, Stella Nicholson, and Clara Crosby, Detroit, Lilah Rumbugh, Wichita, Kan., Ragne Rudi, Westby, Wis., Helen Pearson of Los Angeles, and Thelma Green, Beloit, Wis.

Pallbearers at St. John's Lutheran church in Olin were O. J. Houstman, Hilbert Stolte, Melvin Borcherding, Robert Keely, Tom McCarthy and Richard Jennings. Soloist was Henry Biere.
