MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Augusta) Drexler, 57, were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Matthew Lutheran church. The Rev. Anton Kirkegaard officiated. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Drexler died at John McDonald hospital early Sunday morning, Jan. 21, after a lengthy illness. She was born near Monticello Jan. 7, 1911, the daughter of Adolph and Talke Dirks Slemmer.

She received her education in the Monticello schools and was a 1928 graduate. She attended the Cedar Rapids business college. She was married to Joseph N. Melsha.

On Dec. 1, 1963, she married Elmer Drexler and they continued to make their home in Monticello. For the past 15 years, she had been employed by the Monticello Community schools as secretary to Supt. Boyd Shannon.

She was a member and past president of Monticello Business and Professional Women's club.

Survivors include: her husband, a son, Joseph A. Melsha of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Phyllis) Spiegel of Marshall, Minn., and three grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Harvey Hinrichs, Norman Hinrichs, LeRoy Hinrichs, Harold Conley, Darold Albright and Dale Greenawald.
