MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Roy William Schoon, 44, were held Saturday afternoon at Goettsch funeral home. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery. The Rev. Anton Kirkegaard officiated.

Mr. Schoon died suddenly at his home Thursday afternoon, Sept. 14, of a hemorrhage. He had received a series of cobalt treatments for the past three weeks. He was born at Monticello Dec. 24, 1922, the son of William T. and Ida May Rieger Schoon.

He received his education in the Monticello schools. He farmed with his parents near Monticello since 1941. His father died in 1947 and he and his mother continued farming until 1963 when they moved to Monticello.

Also preceding him in death was his mother in 1966. He is survived by one aunt, Mrs. Lilly Matthiessen.

Pallbearers were Harold Eilers, Albert Heeren, Herbert Plueger, Marvin Jacobs, Jon Husman and Renk Eilers.
