4 October 1951 - Monticello Express

Don E. Denkhoff, 44, former Monticello man, was killed Monday in an automobile accident in Chicago. Also killed was a 9-month old child riding in the car which hit Denkhoff; four others were injured in the accident. Both of the deceased were dead upon arrival at a Chicago hospital.

Mrs. Denkhoff, the former Edith Bunker, a Monticello school teacher before her marriage, was hospitalized for her injuries.

The Denkhoff's were returning from Moline, Ill., where they had been visiting Don's sister Betty and his mother, Mrs. T. F. Denkhoff.

Denkhoff was born in Monticello 44 years ago, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Denkhoff. After completing his schooling, he became a jeweler, following in the footsteps of his father. Besides his mother, wife and sister, he is survived by three brothers: Ted, Bettendorf; Raymond, Des MOines, and Bud, Decatur.
