Steven W. French, 2-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman French, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mercy hospital in Anamosa yesterday morning.

According to Acting Coroner George Lawrence, the child had fallen in a stock tank on the French farm near Martelle and was unconscious when removed. His parents applied emergency artificial respiration and then rushed him to the Anamosa hospital in an attempt to save the child's life.

Physicians were able to do nothing to save the life when the child arrived at the hospital.
