Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Evangelical and Reformed church for Walter Herman Bartels who died at the University hospital Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery. Rev. John Baumann will be in charge of the services.

Walter Herman Bartels was born August 5, 1916, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Bartels, in Castle Grove township. He attended the rural schools in Wayne township. On August 29, 1941 he was married to Doris Himes, and has been employed as a mechanic in Monticello. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church, the Knight of Pythias, and the Monticello fire department.

Surviving are his wife Doris, a daughter, Beverly Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Bartels; one sister, Mrs. Herman Behrends, and one brother, LaVerne Bartels, all of Monticello.

Pallbearers included Merle Aldrich, Paul Hearn, Harley Stoneking, Clarence Stoneking, Fred Krech, and Larry Goodyear.

The Goettsch funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
