Funeral services for Michael Ambrose Kelley, 52, Monticello, who was killed Saturday night when his car went off the Monticello-Amber road, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral home. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Eugene Lorenz conducted the services and burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Kelley was thrown out of the car, which slid sideways, went into the ditch, knocked down a fence and rolled over on top of the fence. The accident happened about 7:45 Saturday night approximately 3 miles south of Monticello. Death was believed due to a crushed chest and fractured skull.

Mr. Kelley was driving to his home in Monticello from Amber where he was working in Rickels garage as a mechanic.

He was born in Manchester, Sept. 3, 1906, the son of Edward and Johanna Farrell Kelley. He moved to Monticello about 30 years ago. He married Mary Kammerman Apr. 2, 1934.

He is surivved by his wife; two sons, James Lee and Lawrence Michael, both at home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Florence) Stingley of Savanna, Ill.; four grandchildren; five brothers, David of DeWitt, Bernard of DeKalk, Ill., Paul of Dubuque, and James and George of Independence; and one sister, Mrs. Don (Ellen) Rosenstiel of Independence.

Pallbearers were Eugene Wink, Morgan Hyde, Eggie Schoon Jr., John Mettler, Lee Wilson and WIlliam Rickels.
