Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock from St. John's Lutheran church for Arend Henry Balster, who died at the John McDonald hospital Wednesday morning after a long illness. Rev. R. P. Young officiated at the funeral.

Arned Henry Balster was born to George H. and Margaret Heeren Balster, April 15, 1878, near Monticello. The family made their home on a farm near Monticello.

On February 26, 1901, he was wed to Martha Eggers at Center Junction, by Rev. W. H. L. Schuetz and the home was made on a farm near here.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; and the following children: Mrs. Aleda Townsend, of Center Junction; Walter Balster, at home, and Andrew Hansen, Denison, Ia. He was preceded in death by one son, Fred; three brothers and one sister.

Also surviving are the following nieces and nephew who during their childhood made their home with the uncle and aunt: Mrs. Henry Hanssen, Scotch Grove; Miss Gertrude Eggers, of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Reece Moats, Monticello; Rhinehart Eggers, Scotch Grove, and Mrs. Bernard Imm of Almor, Minn.

Sisters who survive include: Mrs. Otto Behrends, Hastings, Minn.; Mrs. John Woellert and Mrs. William Brokens, Monticello, and Mrs. Ella Wahl, Gunniston, Colo.

Burial was made at the St. John's cemetery. Pallbearers included Arend Poppe, Arend Balster, George Plueger, William Behrends, Joe Heeren, and Albert Heeren. Funeral arrangements were under the supervision of the Goettsch funeral home.
