SCOTCH GROVE - Word was received Friday of the death of Thomas M. Sutherland, 77, one of the early settlers of Scotch Grove. His death occurred in his home in Pasadena, Calif., March 9, after a very brief illness. Graveside services will be held in the Oak Hill cemetery in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. Mr. Sutherland was the son of John and Caroline Espy Sutherland and was born in Scotch Grove township, Dec. 7, 1874. For many years now he had made his home in California, where his wife survives him, also a son, Clark Sutherland, of Pasadena, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank D. Sutherland of Center Junction and John of Ontario, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Sam Dreibelbis and Mrs. Anna McDowell of Milwaukee.
