Hazel E. Anderson, 91, died April 20 at the Anamosa Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Services were held April 23 at the Goettsch Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Benfer officiating. Burial was in the Oak Shade Cemetery at Marion.

She was born near Whittier on Sept. 9, 1890, the daughter of John and Hattie Willard Bailey. She received her education in the Whittier and Springville schools and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in the Linn County schools five years.

She married Elmer Anderson on March 10, 1915. The couple farmed in Buffalo township, later moving to Marion and then to Anamosa. They were the parents of two daughters, Doris and Pauline. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1917.

On April 30, 1930, she married Herbert Anderson and the couple lived in Anamosa. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1960.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Byron Darrow, Olin, and Mrs. Leslie Toenjes, Anamosa; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Knight, and a brother, Fay Bailey, both of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents and a brother.
