Adolph Burda, age 89, of Butler, Missouri died April 20 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at the Underwood Steinbeck Funeral Home in Butler on April 22 and at the Hayden Funeral Home in Oxford Junction on April 24.
Officiating the service here was Rev. W. Kenneth Hamann, with burial at the Mayflower Cemetery at Oxford Junction.
Born June 17, ??? the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Sourhrada Burda, he was one of five children. Mr. Burda left Oxford Junction seventy five years ago when he was attending the Oxford Junction School.
Before moving the family made their living by farming and by selling their produce the truck farm method.
In Butler, they again farmed and Adolph owned and operated a mechanic shop and served in World War I.
Surviving him are 2 sisters, Mrs. Fred (Amelia) Becker of Shawnee, Kansas, Bessie Divoky of Kansas City, and a nephew Gary Divoly of Kansas City and several cousins in Oxford Junction.
Pallbearers were Merlin Latare, Jerry Mulvihill, Allen Hronik, Ervin Hansen, Ray Bisinger and Howard Barto. Organist was Gen Hayden.
Members of the Wapsie Post 473 had a flag presentation ceremony for the family.
