A memorial service was held in the First Presbyterian Church of Corvallis, Oregon for Clara L. Benbow. McHenry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Benbow who was 93 years old, died August 31, 1982 at the Heart of the Vally Care Center in Corvallis.

She was born October 30, 1888 at Wyoming.

She was the daughter of John and Maria Jensen Thomsen. She was raised and educated in Iowa and received her Bachelor of Arts of degree with honors at Coe College. She taught four years in the Oakland and Monticello high schools.

On May 21, 1913 she and Reverend Earl W. Benbow were married.

The couples first parish was in nearby Onslow. The couple served parishes in Grundy Center and Sioux City. In 1930, he became the director of Westminister Foundation at the University of Washington.

The Benbows serviced pastorials in Dalla and Aurora, Oregon. Following his retirement they lived at Medford and Corvallis, Oregon where Mrs. Benbow lived until her death.

Reverend Benbow died December 20, 1966.

Mrs. Benbow was a member of United Presbyterian Woman's Society, the First Presbyterian Church of Corvallis and Chapter C.I. of the P.E.O.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary B. Paul of McMinnville, Oregon; two sons, Dr. John T. Benbow of Northport, Alabama and Robert M. Benbow of Waterville, Maine; a brother, Meinhardt of Wyoming; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Mrs. August Thomsen, Wyoming.
