Jean G. Barker, 77, of Cedar Rapids and a former Olin resident, died March 6 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Services were held March 9 at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin with Rev. Allan VanCleve officiating. Burial was in the Olin cemetery. A flag presentation was made by the Blayney Miner Post 412 of Olin.

He was born July 20, 1904, at Olin. He served in Company B, 50th Signal Battalion in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Hanford Post 5 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 2272, both in Cedar Rapids.

He retired in 1969 from Iowa Manufacturing.

Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Burgess, Olin, and Mrs. James (Jeanette) Mallicoat, Low Moor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Pallbearers were Steve Klatt, Gordon Thomsen, Ralph Andresen, Warren Nebergall, Charles Hoffner and Arno Lawson.
