Services for Godlieb Troxal, 79, were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Goettsch funeral home. Rev. James W. Sala had charge of the services.

Godlieb Troxal was born August 15, 1872 at Bern, Switzerland, the son of Daniel and Anna Stockle Troxal. At the early age of 8 he came to America with his father and two sisters, and they made their home near Monticello. He passed away at the state hospital at Independence Saturday evening, Sept. 22, after a brief illness.

In 1898 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 49th Iowa regiment in the Spanish-American war. After serving his enlistment he was discharged and then made his home in California and other western states. He returned to Iowa a year later.

He is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Lena Peckosh, Oxford Junction with whom he had made his home for some time; Mrs. Henry Husman, Mt. Vernon; Ben Mettler, Coggon, and John Mettler, Monticello.

Interment was made at the Oakwood cemetery.
