Services for Agnes Elizabeth Jacobs, 82, were held March 27 at the Trinity Methodist Church, Edgewood, with burial in the Edgewood Cemetery.

Mrs. Jacobs died March 14 at the Cloisters Convalescent Home in LaJolla, Calif.

Agnes Jacobs was born in Oxford Junction on Nov. 23, 1899, born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Powlishta. She was educated in the Oxford Junction Public Schools and later supplemented it by auditing courses, which were broadcast by the University of Iowa.

Agnes and Charles Lewis Jacobs were married on Dec. 17, 1919, in Marion. They lived on the family farm south of Monticello during the first year-and-a-half of their marriage, and later moved to Scotch Grove. There Mr. Jacobs operated a business until they moved to Edgewood in December 1925, where he was associated in business until his death in 1978.

Mrs. Jacobs was active in her church and community during her years at Edgewood. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, United Service Women and the Garden Club.

In 1979, she started spending the winters in San Diego, Calif., where she lived at the Wesley Palms Retirement home. In September 1981 she sold her Edgewood home and became a full-time resident at Wesley Palm.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Donald Carlson, St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Milton L. Jacobs, San Diego, Calif., and one granddaughter, Dr. Desiree Carlson, Brookline, Mass.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers and sisters and her husband.
