Services for Ernest L. Wink, 71, of National City, CA, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the United Methodist Church, Oxford Junction. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann of the United Methodist Church and the Rev. Ramon Booth of First Assembly of God Church, Cedar Rapids, officiated.

Burial was at Forest Chapel Cemetery near Anmaosa where military graveside services were conducted by Wapsie Post, American Legion. Masonic Services were conducted by Zealous Lodge, AF & AM on Tuesday evening at the Hayden Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Joseph Spahr, Harry Dirks, Curtis McKinstry, Marvin Wink, Calvin Gates and Stuart McKinstry.

Mr. Wink died January 24 at the Paradise Valley Hospital in National City.

He was born June 7, 1909 in Anamosa to Archie and Emma Blood Wink. He attended schools in Jones County.

On April 3, 1929 he was married to Viola Harford in Anamosa. They lived there until 1941 when they moved to Oxford Junction where he operated a truck freight line. In 1950 they moved to Marion and he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad until he retired. They moved to California in 1974.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945. He was a member of Zealous Lodge, AF & AM, Nol 435, Oxford Junction.

Survivors include three sons, Richard of Oxford Junction and Keith and Lynn both at the U.S. Naval Station in San Diego, nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Wink of Monticello, and three sisters, Mrs. Irene McKinstry of Mechanicsville, Mrs. Nema Teeple of Anamosa and Geneva Wink of Scotch Grove.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one brother.
