Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Goettsch funeral home for Frederick Alvin Himes, who passed away early Thursday morning at the John McDonald hospital following a long illness. Rev. Robert V. Gildner had charge of the services.

Frederick Himes was born on December 29, 1875, near Monticello, the son of Fred and Julia Byam Himes. He had always made his home in this vicinity. On December 19, 1904, he was married to Grace Dirks of Monticello, and they were the parents of nine children. They made their home on a farm near Monticello and later moved to the city where Mr. Himes was employed as a local contractor.

Surviving are his wife, Grace, and the following children: Goldie, Mrs. Herman Schoon of Peoria, Ill.; Frederick E. Himes, Magnolia, Ill.; Loren E. Himes, Monticello; Laveda, Mrs. Sylvester Gill, of Galesburg, Ill.; Doris, Mrs. Walter Bartels, of Monticello; Dewayne, Cedar Rapids; Lucille, Mrs. Russell Hayes of Peoria, Ill. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Burial was made at the Oakwood cemetery. Pallbearers included Paul Buol, George Buol, C. H. Decker, Samuel Holmes, Stanley House, and John Boysen.
