Frank Liddy, a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away Thursday, March 8, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines after an extended illness. Services were held from the Devaney funeral home to the Sacred Heart church Saturday morning at 9:30. Rev. Eugene P. Lorenz offered the requiem high mass and officiated at the grave in the Sacred Heart cemetery.

A son of Dennis and Mary Ann (Gleason) Liddy, he was born Jan. 1, 1893 in Monticello. He attended the public schools. Mr. Liddy enlisted and served with the 166th Balloon Corps during World War 1. Mr. Liddy, an electrician, never married.

Survivors include three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Mae Danaher of Redwood City, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Gilsky, Hilger, Mont., and Mrs. Kathryn Morley, Chicago, Ill; Clem Liddy, Washington, D.C., and John Liddy of Monticello.

Military services were conducted at the grave by the Arthur P. O'Rourke Post No. 209 of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No., 1683.

Pallbearers included A. P. Lambert, Charles Schweitzer, Lynn Howie, Oliver Sampson, Elmer Coon and Henry Schone. The military escort consisted of Ray Fluckiger, Richard Griffith, Lester Monk, Richard Renk, Michael Brady, Loren Schneider, John Steen, Harold Schlimmer, Fred Kreeb, A. J. H. McNeill Jr., and Don Martin as bugler.
